Starting A Fund

The Community Trust Foundation is a collection of charitable funds each tied to a unique charitable purpose with the common theme of benefiting Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland and Mineral County West Virginia.

Donors of all types - individuals, families, businesses and even non-profit organizations - consider an endowed fund for a variety of reasons. Regardless of the motivation, starting a fund at Community Trust Foundation does not require a great deal of wealth and is easy.

Starting a fund entails two critical questions:

  • What are your charitable goals?

  • What is the right gift?

Answering these questions involves developing giving strategies, or deciding what it is your gift will accomplish. It also means deciding what is an appropriate gift, considering your particular circumstance.

While the Foundation's professional staff would welcome the opportunity to discuss your unique situation, starting a fund is easy. Complete the New Fund Form, in your name, or in the name of your family, your organization or anyone you wish to honor (minimums may apply). All grants distributed from your fund - today and in the future - are then awarded to charities in the name of your fund. It's a great way to always be involved with, and remembered for, your community investment.
